I also have the Remstar Plus at a pressure of 8 and go camping at least once a month with the Scouts. I bought the cord with the 12 volt plug on one end and the cigarette lighter plug on the other end (about $20). Then I got a Start-It jumpstarter battery (about $39). I can use this for 3 - 4 nights with one charge, and it can be recharged with either a plug in adapter or a car adapter (included with the jumpstarter).

The jumpstarter battery is much lighter than any marine battery I could find and was also much cheaper. The jumpstarter also has a built in light which is handy for getting everything hooked up.

This system is still not light, but will work if you don't have to carry things too far.
