two questions before sleep study

Posted by tubular on January 17, 2003 at 12:05:48:

hi, I'm doing another sleep study next week...this time with bi-pap. First one was with cpap. I still wake up not breathing with bi so have to find out what's going on. Doc thinks it might be pressure is different with bi. First question: could it just be mouth breathing? I have a chin strap but it seems still easy for air to leak. Will the test pick up mouth breathing?
Second question: being a person with delayed-sleep syndrome (I made this term up: I don't have insomia exactly but it can take me at least two hours to fall asleep once in bed, sometimes more)I only got about a half-hour worth of sleep on my first test. Does anyone know if that is enough to get a good result and know what pressure should be, etc? I probably won't sleep more on my bipap test so have been thinking about this...thanks...this site has helped a lot
