I Hate to sound like a broken record but what time of the day are you giving him melatonin? and why in the first place?

People often mention Professor Dement's book on this website (The Promise of Sleep). He has a good discussion in non-medical jargon about his and the sleep community's apprehension about over the counter use of Melatonin. "One of the largest uncontrolled experiments in history" or some such similar phrase is used. Melatonin is powerful stuff and it's very hard to use correctly- the timing is critically important. One scientist I talked to didn't think it was worth taking outside a controlled laboratory as he thought it was too hard to get the timing right in the real world.
