The volume of air flowing over the water is what forces it to evaporate and if it evaporates each night, then that humidified air is going partly down the airway but also going out your mouth and your effective pressure is lowered, perhaps below a therepeutic level of pressure, making the entire rigamarole of a cpap virtually useless.
