Melatonin can be tricky and probably 90-95% of the people taking it are using the wrong dose at the wrong time. We usually reserve using it for trying to phase shift a patient, or for patients traveling by jet +/- at least 2 time zones. Generally speaking we have them take 0.3 mg 12 hours before their intended wake time.
