What a horrible sleep!

Posted by wild_0ne on February 13, 2003 at 10:36:13:

I have been faithfully using my CPAP the last week or 2 with my cold air humidifier wrapped up in a heating blanket. This has enabled me to handle the CPAP and remain compliant for the first time in a year. Here's my (current) problem, I just had the worst sleep I've had in ages! I must have woken up 10 - 15 times during the night (that I was conscious of), and I had to relieve myself 3 of those times, and then for the last hour or so (of the 6 I actually tried sleeping), I was lying in bed in a weird sort of state. I felt like I was just on the verge of sleeping (that point that you are barely aware of yourself immediately before losing consciousness) and feeling almost "wired" at the same time. I was in and out of this state for over an hour (I think) before finally getting so frustrated that I got up. After this wonderful experience, I have felt like absolute crap today, so this seems to confirm I am having more sleep difficulties than just OSA, or could it be that, and I'm just having a difficult time with the CPAP and maybe need an adjustment? I have also been taping my mouth, which has decreased my mouth breathing (at least that I can tell).

Has anyone experienced anything remotely like this type of sleeping experience! The last 2 nights have been unpleasant (the night before last was bad as well – just not as bad as last night), from a sleep standpoint and is having a profound effect on my daytime "brain fog", alertness and energy levels! I’m generally feeling horrible - UGGG - FRUSTRATING!!!

Thanks!!
