Posted by alwaystired on February 13, 2003 at 17:07:37:I just got a letter cc'd to me to my rental agency for my CPAP from my insurance company. They have 'approved' my rental for Dec. 2002 through Dec. 2003. (Very imperial!) I haven't seen a bill at all. When I got it, the day after my sleep study, the fellow who delivered it to my home, told me they would submit all paperwork. Which they did.
I have no idea what my insurance company is being charged. I noted on different sites that my machine is worth about $450-500. Why are these considered 'rentals'? I got a brand new machine. When I am done this, will they recycle it? Why aren't I 'approved' to purchase one? It seems to me, that since I don't see a bill, this could be one of those $100 aspirin tablets we hear about.
(true story--I once had a deep splinter in the palm of my hand and went to a clinic to have it removed. The final bill was $500. $90 for the ointment, $100 for the guaze, $100 for the pain shot, etc. My ins. co. paid it!!)
jeesh, is this a racket or what? What are the uninsured doing? And should I inquire or leave it alone?
