If this is the reason, I believe that you are permitted to use it 7 nights per week by almost all rabbinic authorities. A coworker of mine dealt with this very issue a number of years ago. What he found was that almost all the Rabbis - I'm not even sure if there was a lone dissenter - all agreed that it is life-preserving therapy. As such, it is exempt from the usual restrictions. Some authorities did insist on using a timer, allowing it to go on and off at the prescribed times without human intervention.

If this is not the reason, I strongly don't advise that you go without it. I have used it in six foreign countries, a cruise ship, and numerous times within the U.S. I have taken it with me on fourteen flights, ten of them post 9/11/2001.
