My "treated AHI" runs around 11 with a minimum pressure set at 7 cm. My "treated AHI" diminishes to around 5 (a bit higher actually) as I experimentally increase my minimum pressure all the way up to 9 cm. My autotitration maximum was always kept at 12 cm during that entire experiment. Yet, my auto-pap seldom ramped my on-demand pressure up to 12 cm or even 11 cm. I never did get around to experimenting with any fixed pressures, however. That's why I refer to these logged hypopnea/apnea events as "treated AHI". Even though I was able to tally up my recorded sleep events for purposes of calculating a "treated AHI", my auto-Pap showed that my reported AHI (after auto-Pap's dynamically delivered air pressure) was down close to zero the entire time. The auto-Pap records my sleep events, then ramps up, then records whether the sleep event was responsive or not. That indirect means of calculating AHI was about the safest in-home experiment I could conceive---albeit perhaps a bit confusing if you're not familiar with my method. I will eventually do fixed pressure experiments at 10 cm and 9cm---perhaps even 8 cm depending on the data.

I'm no longer experimenting, though. I have been back on auto-Pap for several days now (taking refuge from 10 cm CPAP). I'm using a pressure range of 6.5 to 12 cm and I feel very good, indeed!
