Permagrin,

Thanks for the thoughts. To your points...

Yes, I have been to an ENT. (There's been no limit to what I've tried to do to get well, believe me!) He saw nothing unusual about my sinuses or my airways, and said surgery is certainly not an option. That was a bit of a relief, since I was NOT looking forward to that kind of intervention!

By fragmented sleep, I don't mean I keep waking up...I usually only wake once, early in the morning, and then fade back asleep for another hour or so. I just mean that my sleep seems to be completely non-restorative.

Allergy meds seem to have little to no effect on me. I'm a case that usually just serves to frustrate doctors, since I'm never responsive to treatment and don't follow "conventional" guidelines. I thought apnea was the problem, but CPAP really has very little positive effect. Either the AutoPAP units don't read me right (I've tried three), or I need a specific and set pressure. I'm hoping the sleep study in March will answer more questions.

I sympathize with your boyfriend. True, I have not been under his burdens, but we certainly share similar traits. This started just as I was moving into a new home, which I worked very hard to get. Now I'm not working at all, and spend most of my days too tired to do anything but sit here and wonder why I can never get any help. If I start to think of everything I've given up and missed, all because I sleep poorly, I might lose it. All I'm wishing for now is the ability to get better and get on with the rest of my life.
