Have you ever tried Reno Tom's chin strap? Many of the old timers swore by it. From reading Reno's description of it, I believe it applied very gentle pressure to the lower lip in addition to standard or moderate pressure on the chin's underside. My understanding is that particular patter stabilized fairly well on the head.
