To create an effective design you must first ask what the problems are, why they do what they do, and how that can be prevented.
Many chin straps pull from the chin back to the crown of the head. Does this pull rearward on the jaw/tongue and contribute to apneas?
The correction is to have a chin strap that is more vertical to prevent the rearward forces. But this creates it's own problem, it slides to the front of the head. So you add stabilizing straps that go around the back of the head.
When you get into it it is amazing all the factors that come to play in a simple chin strap.
