My wife tells me that if it wasn't for her I too would sleep through power outages. Yet I suspect that she may not always be able to wake up herself during power outages. As an engineer I am extremely quirky about wanting adequate (almost excessive) safegards where human safety is concerned. So I went down to the home improvement store and bought an AC plug-in flashlight that comes on automatically when AC power is interupted. I opend it up and installed an electronic buzzer in parallel with the light bulb. When the AC power goes out the light and buzzer comes on to wake me up during a power outage. The buzzer light and CPAP are in turn powered by a battery backup unit (pure AC sine wave output that is compatible with my humidifier). That way I am not uneccessarily annoyed by incessant buzzing during power glitches.
