The sleep tests results that I gave in my previous post were from a sleep disorders lab study accredited for adults located in a hospital. There are no sleep labs accredited for kids and teens in my area (Washington, D.C.)

The study results state, "Nasal pressure monitoring was used and there was no consistency in the nasal pressure monitor and arousals to indicate a degree of upper airway resistant syndrome."

When she was wakened in the morning, the nasal monitor was off of her nose and dangling in front of her mouth. I was wondering whether that effected the UARS diagnosis. I don't know when during the night the monitor fell off.

Can you tell me what type of doctor we should be seeing next? What questions should I be asking?

The ENT said that because of that sentence about UARS and the 4.6 result that my daughter does not have sleep apnea - that her problem is insomnia. The study noted two obstructive sleep apneas, one central apnea, and 21 hyponeas - none of which occured during REM. REM was limited in duration.

I'm afraid to give her sedatives for fear that she may need to wake up to breath at night. I'm concerned that the sleep study wasn't as accurate as it could have been because I saw that the nasal monitor was not in front of her nostrils when she got out of bed in the morning. The American Sleep Apnea Association - located here in Washington, D.C. - told me that without a tube down her throat to accurately measure obstructions - the test may have missed some.

Please tell me who (what kind of professional) I should be going to for a second opinion.

My daughter is attending Weight Watchers and lost 10.4 pounds this past month, but her problems started before she gained weight. She was complaining about being tired all the time before she gained the weight. She snored loudly since she was born.

The overnight polysomnogram displays a prolonged sleep latency.

I could transcribe the whole sleep study into another post if that would help. It's little more than a page long.

Thanks for any help or suggestions that you can provide.
