Most people do prefer a heated humidifier and some definitely require one. This 'mistake' that you made is good. You have received confirmation of the necessity for you to have heated humidification.

I too have been using the grossan tip on a waterpik device and I failed to do so yesterday afternoon. I don't know if my difficulties in breathing during the night were definitely related to the omission, but I did perform a nasal lavage in the morning and do feel better now. Its often hard to determine the influence of any one factor on the overall sleep experience. You were lucky.
