I am new to the site as of today (4/22/03). I was looking for info on CPAP machines and stumbled onto this forum.

I have had apnea since I was in high school (1980's). My parents commented on how they thought I was going to die in my sleep because I stopped breathing all the time.

Unfortunately, I had it when there was not enough knowledge about it. Most doctors and neurologists did not know what it was let alone how to treat it.

I had a sleep study in 2000 and missed insurance coverage by 1/10th of a point. Now I've been told that my index then would be more than enough for insurance to cover now-a-days.

Now that I do not have insurance and I'm am unemployed, I am getting better service paying in cash.

I am waiting for my CPAP. Should get it within the next day or 2. The sleep study that I took last week with the titration was the BEST night of sleep I've had in years!!!

Another thing--I tend to be verbose and descriptive, so I apologize ahead of time if my posts seem long. I figure, the more descriptive--the better for someone else.
