The Grossan attachment itself doesn't car what solution you use but any saline "may" have a long term affect on the water pik or interplak (which ever you use). I use filtered tap water and non-iodized salt and run a half cup of regular filtered water after I am done just to clean out the machine. My doctor rold me not to waste money on purchased saline when you can make it for so much less. I've been using it for months with no problems.
