Help me with CPAP Problems!

Posted by NEEDZS on April 23, 2003 at 18:02:41:

First off, Im really happy that I have found this forum!! I need your help!! I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea last year, and was issued a CPAP machine. Anyways, I wore it loyaly for weeks, and have only noticed a few times in where I have felt rested after sleep. Anyhow, Im tired, all the time!! Driving to work at 5am even after 6 hours of sleep, is a challenge!! I have missed several days of work because of this!! People make jokes about my attendance, but im just sooo tired all the time!! Anyways here are a few of my problems, Im a mouth breather, my nose is always congested, I've used the Nasal sprays , but they seem to be only temporary, can this cause the CPAP not to work properly?? I can hear and feel air coming out my mouth, so im not sure if a congested nose is the culprit. Also every time I wear the mask, the bridge of my nose get these sores or blisters underneath like a cold sore, any of you get this? Anyhow, Im thinking of getting a full face mask, cause Im desperate for a solution!! Also on my mask it has two little air nipples that are plugged, should these be un-plugged?? I know its alot of questions but I desperatly need advice!! My sleep center takes several weeks to get in! When I was diagnosed with apnea in July(139 breath stops an hour), I couldnt get back in for a CPAP study until November.. Anyhow you get the picture, thankyou all for any help!!!
