From my own experiences and through reading other people's experiences in this forum, it's likely you'll have to spend time, money and effort trying a variety of products before you find a solution to your apnea. Don't let the frustration get you down, there is light at the end of the tunnel. But it can take a fair bit of effort to reach it.
If you know you're breathing through your mouth, you will need to do something to rectify, as your machine is obviously unable to get the air down to do it's work. Reading through forums here will give you heaps of ideas on how to do this like chin straps etc. Try a search within this site for starters.
Same for nasal congestion. Nasal sprays are only a short-term fix and can make your problem worse in the long-run. I had similar problems as you which virtually disappeared overnight once I got a heated humidifier. From what I've seen and read, a heated (must be heated) humidifer is just about the ultimate solution to nasal issues.
My experience with masks was very poor. I had leaks (specially since I am a side sleeper) and other problems. So I tried a Nasalaire and loved it. No probs whatsoever. I could never go back to a mask now.
What you'll find with sleep apnea is that what works for one won't for another. Suggestions can only be given here for you to try, but as I already said, it may be a bit of trial and error before you get to where you want to be. But it'll be worth it in the end.
You need to stay motivated and persistant.
Good luck.
