No REM period (???)

Posted by Hugo Angers on April 25, 2003 at 10:32:34:

I think that it's possible that I have sleep apnea.

I had a sleep test in november 2002. I just have the results.

The doctor is not sure that I have apnea. He want to make an another sleep test...

In the results, there are some stranges things that the doctor did not explain to me:

1- I had no REM period (should be 20% of total sleep)
2- I have a lot of alpha rhythm (enormously!)

--> Is that normal to do not have REM period?
--> What could be the reason of REM absence?

Here the % of each stage:

*REM : 0.0%
Stage 1: 14.7%
Stage 2: 67.7%
Stage 3: 0.8%
Stage 4: 6.8%

I am so extremely tired that I'm unable to work neither study since more that 2 years. It appeared in march 2001. I was ok before. I am a man and I'm 25 years old.

If you can answer my questions or/and tell me something that could help me I would be very happy.

Thank you!

(I speak french. So sorry if there are some mistakes in my message).
