the two drugs you take, effexor(a heterocyclic antidepressant), and clonazepam (a benzodiazepine) have both shown in multiple research studies to lengthen REM onset and reduce REM sleep state percentage in a great deal of patients

looking at the numbers from your sleep study (in conjunction with your meds) I would say it is completely normal it could be a very simple matter of your medication not allowing you to get into REM early enough, usually a person will hit their first REM period 90-120 minutes into sleep, perhaps you need much longer, and you only slept for 4 hours, I have seen plenty of people who won't hit their first REM cycle until 5-6hrs into their sleep, no problem

I highly doubt there was any instrument or scoring error
