I've been on CPAP for eight years. The problem of waking up with the mask off happened occasionally in the early years, but happens rarely (if at all) now.

I'm likely to wake and pull the mask off suddenly if I'm in the middle of a bad cold or sore throat, and I need to cough or get extremely congested. That seems to be a different situation though.
