Posted by Scooter on May 29, 2003 at 05:07:46:I'd like to thank everyone in this forum for their helpful wisdom and advice while I've been using a BiPAP. I have Periodic Leg Movement Disorder. My first sleep study showed 1 OSA and 10 hypopneas -- for the night. It also showed constant leg movement and lots of arousals. My doctor concluded (he's a pulmonologist) that my leg movement and arousals were caused by my mild breathing disorder.
I've been using the BiPAP for just over a month -- and I'm still kicking and moving my legs. I am no more rested than when I started on the machine.
This has been a very worthwhile experiment (despite the continuing fatigue) for me because now I'm certain that my PLMD is neurological in origin, not a side effect of a breathing disorder. I'll be going off to see a neurologist as soon as I can get a referral.
Thanks again!
