Watch out for CFlex Hose leaks!

Posted by TommyGun on May 29, 2003 at 20:11:53:

I began cpap in mid april and have had more partial nites than full with the mask on. I couldn't figure out why some nites were good and some not until last nite. I put the mask on and the machine started up at full pressure (13cm) or so I thought but it seemed really hard to exhale. By chance I covered the exhaust ports on the mask with my hand and found the exhale to be easier. Of course then I tried to close off the openings completely and still had air blowing on me. I found that the connection between the humidifier and the pump was leaking pretty good and when I forced it closed the pressures normalized. This leads me to believe that the pump can't determine how much pressure to send with free flow air leaking out and provides the maximum that the machine can do. I think that this is why I have lots of nites in which I rip off the mask unconciously. Anyway, it worked well last nite, we'll see tonite.
