I didn't experience the daytime sleepiness pre-diagnosis of OSA and I certainly have an ongoing love/hate relationship with the machine from Hell, though I am 100% compliant (and have been since Day 1). I don't have to get up as often at night to use the bathroom and don't have to keep a bottle of water by my bed to combat severe dry mouth, though I still have some problem with it. I've resigned myself to a bad hair life instead of a day now and then and to hauling the X#@%*# thing all over the world as we travel. My spouse is likewise afflicted (I accused him of finding a way to make it contagious so we could share--he predated me on the machine by about 7 years) and the difference in him was dramatic. He simply couldn't stay awake in the daytime whenever he sat down pre-C-PAP. It's a wonder he didn't have a car accident. What I do notice, is if I fall asleep for a while on my bed in the day time, I awake feeling really crummy, and once I took a trip for a few days and bagged the humidifier and immediately got a sore throat so I don't do that any more. I am well aware of the risks of untreated OSA so I will continue to be totally compliant while I whine.
