I imagine the best way to educate the spouse is to cure yourself and demonstrate the marked differences between your 'new self' and 'old self'.

As to UPPP and the like, in the interim even more bad news has been published. Many ENTs no longer perform the operations. Alot of the 'benefits' were subjective anyway. You might want to check the NonCpap options threads.

I suggest another trial of cpap, this time with a variety of masks until you find one you like and perhaps some daytime 'practice' with the mask to get used to it.

You can always turn a cpap off, but a scalpel is forever. Good or ba, the surgery can't be 'undone'. Not ever.
