I have the same problem. My doctors have diagnosed the problem as depression for over 5 years. I am now on Wellbutrin. I had a sleep study and now on the cPap at a level 6. According to my sleep specialist, this is a mild level of sleep apnea. However, the average time it took me to fall asleep on all three studies was less than 2 minutes. He says this is indicative of Narcolepsy. I have been on the cPap for over 2 months with no positive results. He has now prescribed Provigil to help the daytime sleepiness. I am not on allergy medication, as I do not have a problem with allergies. It's very frustrating.
