I didn't get the claustrophobic feeling until I had been trying the darn thing for about two years. I think I got that way since cpap, bipap, autopap didn't work for me. I tried everything that you will read in the archives on this site, hypnosis, wearing it not hooked up while watching TV, etc. It took two years but found out the pump caused central apnea. By that time I was a little claustrophobic from wearing the mask and not getting any sleep. I chose the surgical option and am glad I did. You may want to look into them. People on this particular forum seem dead set against surgeries listing pain and poor success rates as rationale. However, the pain normally only lasts a week or two and if you select the right doctors and realize that it may take more than one surgery, the success rate goes way up. Surgery is not for everyone but it might be an alternative for you after you give the mask a real try.
