putting your humdifier on the floor is the best way to avoid rainout problems, i've found. bust as you say, you will need to get a longer tube to achieve this. what i was told when i asked the question as you was that your machine should adjust itself and compensate for having a longer tube, therefore working harder in pumping out a higher pressure rate of air.

i've been doing this now for months and it works for me.
