Many heart and vascular problems may be caused by or worsened by OSA and the reasons are well understood.
Cardiomyopathy is entirely different and the connection is highly unlikely. CM is a muscle disorder and likely immuniologically(?) linked.
CM can happen to people of all ages and many times follows a viral infection.
Ask your new doc his opinion. He should be able to explain it better to you.
Also do a google search for more info.
