I agree with most of what freebird says. BUT social workers are not the only professionals who can do marriage or couples counseling; counselors are also skilled in these approaches.

I certainly would advise you to get help yourself. Perhaps with help, you can find ways to kindly let your husband know that you care about this because you love him and you want the marriage to work - but it won't work and he may not even live very long if he does not get help!!
