Posted by HAZY on January 07, 2004 at 09:58:06:I am using an Autoset Spirit with Breeze/pillows. This is treating mild apnea well, UARS not at all. My questions relate to using the machine-mask combination. I started with this machine set 6 - 12 cmH2O last summer and noticed that it would start to increase pressure while still awake. I ran a test while reading and found it would increase to the therapuetic pressure range while awake. I have heard of some software issues with the Autoset so I called customer support.
I was told there the problem was the breeze and that neither breeze nor nasalaire would work with the Autoset Spirit. I know there are no settings for either mask in the setup menu, but this seems like company crud. I cannot tolerate nasal masks as they actually "pinch off" my nasal passages making it more difficult to breathe. I tolerate full face masks well, but cannot sleep on my back and have never solved leakage problems. With the Breeze/pillows combo I achieved 100% nightly compliance with a very low leak rate reported on the Autoset Spirit. Any thoughts on using Breeze/pillows with the Autoset? This is most likely straight out of the company handbook crap, but it still doesn't seem right that the machine ramps to therapuetic pressure while awake. Comments????
