CPAP In Hospital

Posted by sleepless coot on January 07, 2004 at 19:43:45:

Has anyone had trouble in using a CPAP at a hospital? I have a frind who was diagnoised with sleep apnea and prescribed a CPAP machine. When her doctor ordered it at the hospital the nurses didn't know what a CPAP was. The respritory therpist at the hospital had an old machine about 3 ft square and no one knew how to hook it up. A supplier was called and when the rep. from the supplier started to put the machine on the patient she was ordered out of the hospital. The family was told they could not use a machine in their hospital. Aparently the nurses and the administration of the hospital who have no medical license can over rule the prscribing doctor. Any comments?
