Posted by Planet on January 08, 2004 at 16:43:53:I just had a sleep study done by my neurologist in her office and was called to come back for a "CPAP Test" because I have sleep apnea. I haven't been told any specifics yet, but I am totally shocked by this Dx. I was seeing her for chronic pain related to c-spine issues, pinched nerves, etc.
What is this CPAP test they want me to come back and spend the night for? I don't seem to fit the typical description...I am a 47 y/o female, 132 lbs and relatively petite for my size. I have a very small face and head. I have low blood pressure. My husband says I snore occasionally, but has never really complained about it. I did learn recently that I have a deviated septum and have some allergies since moving to Virginia. I thought I was tired all the time because I wasn't sleeping due to my recent pain issues. But after thinking this over, I have been tired most of my life. Maybe this is the reason I have gone through life feeling like a zombie!!!!
Anyway, what questions should I be asking the doctor? What advice can you give? Does anyone ever get second opinions on this. Seems like this is a lifelong committment that really impacts your lifestyle. Yikes! Do you really feel a lot better after treatment?
