In my opinion, the mother, who was bottle fed, is likely to have an altered palate such that nasal congestion combined with the narrowed nasal passages (caused by the altered palate) ends up with OSA. During pregnancy the bulk of the fetus reduces the excursion of the diaphragm causing OSA. (OSA is caused because the reduced excursion reduces the pressure difference between the lung interior and the tip of the nose. CPAP produces the extra pressure.) The oxygen desaturation experienced by the mother is passed along to the fetus adversely affecting its development.

Of course, I am not a doctor so it is appropriate to evaluate everything which I present. Thanks for asking, I am sorry that I didnot make myself clear. If you do a search on PubMed searching for "Duncan [au] AND otitis AND breast ", it should result in an abstract which states that ear infections are reduced in infants who were exclusively breast fed for at least 4 months. Either Duncan or others suggest the longer the breast feeding the better.

Non nutrive sucking, such as pacifier use, arm sucking and thumb sucking also alter the palate. Jackson says that bottle feeding and pacifiers increase ear infections by 5 and 2 times.
