The CPAP study would be your returning to the lab/office to sleep with a CPAP machine so that they can figure out what type of settings, constant or bi-level, etc, you need in order to keep you breathing All through the night.
I'd be asking the doc how severe is it? as in how many times per hour did you stop breathing?
Try different masks. If none they offer are comfortable ask if there are others that they don't usually offer on the study night.
Turns out the lab I've gone to have just about everything available, but the techs don't wheel that "everything" out. They think the sheer number of choices would overwhelm a new apnea patient. They may be correct, but *I* would've appreciated knowing there were other possibilities from the start rather than having to put up with having dents in my forehead from my first mask. grump grump grump ;-)
Ask for a heated humidifier! I've never had to deal with a machine without one and can't imagine having to do so now. I haven't had a nosebleed yet this winter.:-)
