Pressure too high?

Posted by chollyred on January 09, 2004 at 13:10:21:

Hi! Newbie to this forum...

I've been on cpap since May and have been having great results....until Thanksgiving. I've been using a Remstar Pro with heated humidifier and Breeze with pillows. Pressure is at 18. Suddenly, I started having severe allergy attacks. The sneezing and dripping never go away. Tried saline spray, Nasalcrom, Claritin, Clarinex, and am now on Allegra. Still, when using the machine, I wake up feeling like I'm drowning, or sneezing my head off. I've cleaned, used with and without heat, with and without the humidifier. Nothing seems to help. Haven't used it for the past couple of nights. The nose has quit dripping, but I'm now not sleeping again.

When using the machine, it feels like a feather has been shoved into my sinuses. Has anyone else had this kind of problem? Can the high pressure cause this? I've also lost 35lbs since being on the cpap. Does the pressure ever need to be adjusted downward?

Thanks in advance for any advice...
