When I started on CPAP about 3 years ago my pressure was 15. After a year I felt my symptoms return and the doctor prescribed that I rent an autopap for 30 days. After the home test on the autopap my pressure was reduced to 11. I felt that I slept really well on the autopap

About 6 months ago I bought out of my own money a RemStar Auto in a package deal from the SleepMall at this site - including all the software and card reader.

Tracking my pressure readings has been very revealing. I find that 90% of my events are controlled with a pressure of only 8 with occassional peaks (i.e. 10 minutes a night) at 11. However I had to prepare for a business trip to Europe a few months ago. In the week before the trip I was stessed out. My requirements changed to a pressure of 11 for 90% of the events with peaks at 15. After the trip the pressure fell back to where it was.

My personal opinion is that the lab test is itself is stressful and may result in higher pressure settings than normally required. I am sleeping much better with the autopap and the lower average pressure. It is great to have a machine that responds to my true needs.

I am not overweight and have had no known physical changes that would have otherwise affected my pressure needs.
