The difference in atmospheric pressure between sea level and 7000 ft. is about 2.8 psi. This is equivalent to about 180 cm/H20, or about 10 times the higher pressure settings of those using xPAP.
Where were you stationed prior to Ft. Carson? I may be wrong, but it stands to reason that someone with mild apnea at lower elevations might have severe apnea at high elevations.
