Perhaps I should have said that air will not flow from the tip of the nose to the lung without a difference in presssure between the tip of the nose and the lung.

The air will not go into the balloon without a difference in presssure between the mouth and the interior of the balloon.

I will work on another explanation, but it probably will take quite a while. Sorry.
