I took Provigil for awhile when my fatigue continued despite CPAP. Provigil did not do anything for me, although some people report being helped. I was also on Prozac and learned that it, along with Zoloft, Wellbutrin and a host of others, can disturb sleep rather than enhance it. When I found that out, I weaned off of them, with my doctor's blessing.
The thing that works best for my alertness is a Chinese herb that has received very bad press and now cannot be sold in my state.
I also recently started taking melatonin at night and, during the day, an herbal supplement that is supposed to reduce or suppress blood cortisol levels, cortisol being a stress hormone that interferes with sleep. That combination seems to be slowly turning things around to where I don't feel the need for the Chinese herb.
IMHO, there are many factors that go into improved sleep and energy levels. It's a very individual thing and I am of the belief that each person must persevere, often by trial and error, to find what works for them. I've been on CPAP a little over two years.
Good luck to you.
