I have mixed apnea as well. OSA, CSA & Hypopneas. In my opinion this is hard to overcome. I've been on cpap for almost a year and NO improvement whatsoever. Am going to ENT in 2 weeks to see what they recommend. Pure OSA seems to me simple to overcome with cpap. But CSA & Hypo's are coming from "learned responses" in the brain or brainstem trauma. No cpap will overcome that. The impacts? If you find a quick fix your one of the lucky ones. I'm still hoping and praying for SOMETHING to give me some relief. Good Luck but above all ...DON'T GIVE UP! I'm wondering why my doc didnt prescribe bi-pap? It seems to be better for CSA.
