Awakenings "normal" even w/CPAP ?

Posted by Zermatt on February 26, 2004 at 12:03:41:

Is it "normal" w/CPAP to still awaken several times during the night? On average I have about 2 awakenings per night that I am aware of -- my "marker" is that when I awaken I vividly remember the dream(s)I was having. I usually fall right back to sleep but I wonder if an apnea is awakening me and if this is a problem. My second sleep study indicated no apneas w/CPAP but I am now beginning to wonder if the setting of 8cm is high enough to avoid apneas while I am on my back:I start out sleeping on my side but my first sleep study indicated the apneas occur when I am on my back. PS.I have tried the pillow and even the tennis ball trick to keep off my back but I still migrate to my back despite this.
