As far as finding an expert in the military, I shared a table at a wedding with a relatively young US Navy doctor who was trained in sleep medicine. I'm not sure of his exact assignment, but I know he often treated US Navy pilots with a variety of sleep disorders, including helping them deal with adjusting to night ops.

Are there Army docs at your base (or nearby) that deal with the helicopter pilots? I would hope that the Army, having to work at all hours would have some doctors knowledgable about sleep.
