Newbie here Jerking at night?

Posted by SleepyGirl on February 26, 2004 at 19:41:14:

Hi everyone, lastnight was my first night using my CPAP. It's the adjustable kind that has a card in it to keep track of my breathing needs for 2 weeks until they can figure out a good setting. I am meant to keep this one they say but they are trying to find out my best setting I guess..

Any way back to my question I have OSA moderatly/severe and lastnight it seemed that I would just start to doze off very comfy with my mask and what not and suddenly I'd start to like jerk or something. You know that feeling you get when you just start to fall asleep and your body relaxes and you suddenly startle? I must of done that 8-10 times lastnight. Is this a side effect of cpap use? Will it stop, am I doing something wrong? I got about 3 hours of good sleep on it wich is good I think for a first night but after the constant jerking I gave up and took it off..

I loved all the information here, I am currently using a nasal gell mask, not sure of all the brand names I have the paperwork put up but if you need it I can go pull it out..

Thank's for any comments or help!!
