New Here -- What to expect?

Posted by JeffL on February 27, 2004 at 12:18:36:

I'm a 48 year old male, with a history of muscle aches. stiff neck, etc. that was dx'd as fibromyalgia last year. Recently underwent tests (CT Scan, Endoscopy, PET Scan) via my ENT for a suspected mass at the base of the tongue. All turned up negative, except that I have substantial irritation of the throat and nose. I am not grossly overweight (6'3" 215), but snore a great deal, have dry mouth in the morning, reflux at night, and substantial fatigue.

My ENT looked everything over, and noted that I have a "large tongue". He feels there is an "excellent likelihood" that I have OSA. I am scheduled for an evaluation next Friday at the local Sleep Disorders Clinic. Since it is an 11:00 AM appointment, it doesn't seem likely that they are going to be doing a full sleep study then.

What can I expect during the evaluation process? Any others with a similar history?

Thanks!!

Jeff
