One Week... Need encouragement?

Posted by UKnowWhatInSeattle on April 13, 2004 at 14:02:19:

Fellow apneacs,

I'm a week into CPAP therapy (fighting an AHI of 65). A couple of nights, I've fought the mask (Comfort Select) and haven't slept well. Other nights, I've fallen asleep pretty easily, but I wake up after 2 hours feeling like I've been asleep almost all night. Then I get back to sleep for a couple of sessions and wake up still feeling pretty low-energy. Long nights, slow days...

I've only tried the Breeze for one night and had bad external irritation (used Ayr gel). I'm going to try to get used to the Breeze after reading raves on this forum.

I've got a RemStar Pro (set at 8) which my wife doesn't seem to like much better than my snoring (I thought the sound was going to be steady; not spinning up and down with each breath). My provider has sent me cards to switch C-Flex on and off and I've experimented with that without much change.

Friends with CPAPs tell me "I noticed a big difference right away"...

Today, I'm more run down than before I started treatment. I really want this to work. Is the therapy likely to kick in soon? I'm getting kinda discouraged...

Jim
