Sleepy: The stress part of a stress test is to stress, or elevate, the heartrate. There's two basic ways to do it; exercise and drugs. A principal reason for drugs is when exercise is not feasible (say physical limitations) While my stress tests have always been by exercise, my wife's stress tests have been by drug stimulation. She's never had any problem and I would not fear the drug. Further, they could achieve a desired heartrate even if it could not be achieved by exertion.
