I use distilled water and have neither dumped, nor dryed the water container in months. I put a cap on the container every morning when I disconnect the hose to prevent dust etc from entering, and refill it every night before hosing up.

The water and the container are perfectly clear and clean. There is nothing in distilled water to promote the growth of anything. I do disconned the hose and mask and allow them to dry seperately during the day.
