Thank you, Hitchcock, my sentiments exactly

I do in fact have a sleep doc and see him about once a month. And I do suspect my shortness of breath that day was probably apnea related -- but as I am not a doctor, and could not know for certain, I went to ER, which I think was the responsible thing to do

I did contact my sleep doc the next day, but he was out of town at a conference aLL week, so that's when I went back to the cardiologist, which I think was also the practical and responsible thing to do -- because with my age (49) and weight (250, 60 pounds over), you just never know.

And, of course, apnea can lead to cardiac problems -- which at that point, ar eht province of the cardiologist, not the sleep doc.

I did have that test done, and it was very weird
-- that persantine does temporarily make you feel light headed and short of breath, but they give you something to counteract that, and thos esensations dissipate after about five minutes

So now I will wait to see what the results say, and am in touch with my sleep doc -- he was kind enough to give me his e-mail address, so we "chat" every other week or so when a question comes up.

(He is at a university teaching hospital, so he only keeps office hours one day a week...., so he's not the easiest guy to get in to see on short notice....but he's by far the best of the four sleep docs I have seen in the last few years -- he also served as president of a national sleep doc association last year -- so I am sticking with him)
